The Market on Mill is on haitus until Mid-January due to holiday events and to focus on the launch of the Urban Garden — Downtown Tempe’s first community garden!

The goal is to raise micro-greens for local restaurants and the Market on Mill.  The land proposed for the garden is across the street from Tempe Transportation Center at 5 Th and Forest and will involve a team to get it rolling.  We have scheduled a meeting with potential partners and community members to be held in the TTC Community Meeting Room on October 24 in the afternoon at 2pm.

Our goal is make the Market on Mill and the Market Garden carbon neutral by the end of our first year!  We are partnering with ASU to assess our carbon footprint and determine our offset/remedial options.  We plan to have  the garden in operation by November 10 when the international Green Build Conference will be visiting downtown Tempe for the evening. There will be a special market that evening as well.  Let’s help Tempe get GREEN!!!

The Market on Mill is rocking more every week. Shop local food creators, artists, and craftspeople, get groovy with fantastic local music, and get to know some of the cool people in our unique community! You can enjoy dinner afterward at one of the delicious eateries on Mill Avenue, and there’s plenty of parking. Different than a farmers’ market, Market on Mill is a true community market. The hot summer has meant low yields for our local growers; produce will be available at Market On Mill when the growing season kicks into gear. This market is a carbon-neutral event focused on locality and sustainability, so you can shop and dance with relaxed confidence. It’s free to attend — see you there!
